#Call an exact model

Use Wire when you already know which model you want. Send a public model ID and Elektric uses that model for the request.

#Discover models

Use authenticated GET /v1/models to see the models currently available to your account and the capabilities each supports.

#What Wire guarantees

• Elektric uses the model ID you provide.
• Wire does not silently switch to another model.
• If the model or requested capability is unavailable, the request fails instead of being rerouted.

#Use the matching operation

Use POST /v1/chat/completions for text and chat, POST /v1/images or /v1/images/edits for images, POST /v1/videos for video, POST /v1/audio/speech or /v1/audio/transcriptions for audio, and POST /v1/embeddings for vectors. The endpoint determines the operation; a model ID does not change a chat request into another operation.

Use Wire through the TypeScript SDK, Python SDK, REST API, or a supported OpenAI-compatible client. Authenticate with your Elektric API key.
